American becoming an English Literature teacher in the UK or Ireland?
Can anyone tell me the qualifications for becoming an English Literature teacher in the UK or Ireland? I would like to teach secondary school students. I have Irish citizenship.
I intend to get a BA in English here in the US, then go to the UK or Ireland for graduate school/training. I would like to know more about the process of becoming an English teacher there … what sort of college major is recommended or if any particular one (like a BA in English or Literature) is required, what sort of examinations I must take, etc.
Advice, websites, any info is appreciated, especially from teachers! 
get your BA with emphasis on literature then to ireland for diploma in education which is a postgraduate thingy. u can choose several subjects esp irish influence on literature – 3 or 4 nobel prize for lite. shakespeare is a must.
why dont u pursue a bachelor in education instead which is a straight path to teaching. there r 5 colleges in ireland for this.
